HWC led the design and implementation of the streetscape improvements along North Railroad Street and South Railroad Street in downtown Remington, which included the introduction of bumpouts and modifications to the existing traffic flow and parking. Concurrently, HWC collaborated with KJG Architects on the depot building renovation and plaza, which has become an event center for the community. Extensive railroad coordination, adhering to grant funding requirements, and staying within budget were the main challenges of the project, which HWC guided to a successful outcome.

Greensburg Main Street

Greensburg Main Street

Greensburg, IN

Main Street

HWC worked with the City of Greensburg to obtain a Main Street Revitalization grant from the Office of Rural and Community Affairs (OCRA) to update the south side of Main Street between Franklin and Broadway streets. Ensuring pedestrians felt comfortable along this busy vehicular corridor was an important aspect of this project. Columnar street trees, linear planters, limestone, and black metal benches, cobblestone pavers, and a low maintenance landscape palette are some of the features of this streetscape.
